Pure Gold Purpose

What started as simple place holder text to test out new fonts on a branding kit, has turned into so much more for our founder LeAnn Henri. Read an interview below about how You Are Pure Gold started and what it means to her:

Q: How did you come up with You Are Pure Gold?

LeAnn: My sister Lori is an amazing graphic and web designer and was helping me with the branding for the launch of my YouTube channel back in 2018. She wrote "you are pure gold" on a sample IG quote post and said "This is just a place holder. You don't have to do anything with it, I just liked how it looked." But I INSTANTLY fell in love with it and decided to keep it.

Q: So how did it evolve into what it is today?

LeAnn: Well, I was gaining some traction on my YouTube channel and every time I finished up a video, it felt like something was missing - like I needed a signature sign-off or something. So one day I just randomly said “Always remember that you are pure gold and I’ll see you in the next one.” I wasn’t completely sold on it, But I figured I’d keep doing it to see if it stuck.

Q: I’m guessing it stuck?

LeAnn: Yes! Well, it kinda didn’t at first. I forgot to say it at the end of a video once and didn’t think it was that big of a deal. So many of the comments under that video were saying, ‘hey, you didn’t tell us we’re pure gold! Are you okay?!’ At that moment I realized that it was actually resonating with people. That it spoke to those who watched my videos and evoked a feeling in them that I couldn’t quite place, but I knew I wanted people every where to feel that same feeling every single day.

Q: Are you able to put that feeling into words now?

LeAnn: You know, that’s a really good question. I’d say it’s a feeling of value and worth that requires no prerequisite - it is our birthright and our most valuable possession. Similar to how gold is one of the most valuable and precious metals in the world - always remember that you are pure gold. The “gold” is in you.

Q: How do you live that out daily?

LeAnn: A big thing for me in my life is authenticity - being real in my videos, in what I post, how I show up in the world. Sometimes I slay for days and other times I show up on live with no makeup on. I’m all about showing the good and the bad so that I can bring the humanity back to social media influencers. I want people to know that it’s totally normal to have a good day followed by a few bad days. Highs and lows are normal but social media only serves us up the 2% perfection of people’s lives that they post. I show when I’m having a bad day, but I always follow it up with gratitude for my life and a hope for tomorrow.
